The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Wednesday that the upcoming tri-nation ODI series, originally planned for Multan, will now be held at the newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
The series, which will feature Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa, will now take place at these upgraded venues, both of which are being readied for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The PCB confirmed that preparations are progressing well, with both stadiums nearing the completion of their upgrades to meet the high standards required for the prestigious event.
Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore is undergoing a major renovation to improve the fan experience. The capacity has been increased to 35,000, with new seating arrangements added for greater comfort. To enhance broadcast quality, 480 LED lights have been installed to provide optimal viewing for audiences worldwide. Additionally, two massive digital replay screens—one measuring 80 feet by 30 feet and another 22 feet by 35 feet—will be added next week, ensuring the best possible in-match experience for spectators. A new hospitality area for players and officials is also expected to be ready by January 25. The PCB plans to officially open the revamped stadium in the final week of January.
National Bank Stadium in Karachi has also undergone substantial improvements. A new hospitality area has been created at the University End, while 350 LED lights have been installed to enhance broadcast visibility. The installation of 5,000 new seats will improve spectator comfort across the stadium.
Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, while not undergoing as major renovations, is receiving minor updates, including the installation of 10,000 new chairs, upgrading of hospitality boxes, and two new digital replay screens. The PCB’s ground staff, supervised by Tony Hemming, has been focused on ensuring that the playing surfaces at all three venues are maintained to the highest standards ahead of international competitions.
With over 250 workers working around the clock to meet the January 25 deadline, the PCB is committed to ensuring that both the tri-nation series and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 are hosted in world-class facilities.
