Sohail Adnan Clinches Historic U-13 British Junior Open Squash Title

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's rising squash star, Sohail Adnan, made history on Monday by defeating Egypt's Moez Tamer Elmoghazy in a thrilling Under-13 final at the British Junior Open Squash Championship in Birmingham.

In an exhilarating match at the University of Birmingham’s glass court, Sohail staged a remarkable comeback to secure a hard-fought 11-5, 5-11, 6-11, 11-7, 11-5 victory, showcasing both his skill and mental resilience.

This triumph not only marks a major milestone in Sohail's career but also ends an 18-year drought for Pakistan in the prestigious competition. The last Pakistani to win the coveted British Junior Open title was Nasir Iqbal in 2007.

The 12-year-old Sohail battled through a tough draw, overcoming some of the best junior players from around the globe. His final performance, characterized by exceptional technique and composure under pressure, demonstrated his potential as a future star in the sport.

Earlier in the tournament, Sohail showed his dominance by defeating Malaysia's Wain Isaac Wilson 11-4, 11-7, 11-5 in the pre-quarterfinals. He had earlier dispatched Germany's Mats Oliver Efken and Scotland's Calum Smith in straight games, 3-0, in the preceding rounds.
