Imran Khan Allows PTI to Submit Written Demands in Talks with Government
Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has granted permission for his party to submit their demands in writing to the government’s negotiation team, as the ongoing talks continue to unfold. Addressing the media outside Adiala Jail, PTI lawyer Faisal Chaudhry relayed that the party’s founder also emphasized the need for a third round of negotiations to ensure progress. According to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Imran Khan stressed that without this meeting, the talks would be unable to advance.
Imran Khan further clarified that his cases were not part of the negotiation agenda and expressed support for a serious and effective discussion on the country’s issues. He also announced the formation of a committee led by Qazi Anwar to investigate the missing persons from November 24, with a report expected by Sunday.
PTI leaders, including Barrister Ali Zafar, Gohar Ali Khan, and Sher Afzal Marwat, have stood firm in their commitment to the negotiation process, noting that the party will not move forward with talks without meeting the government’s negotiation team. Senator Zafar also highlighted that a face-to-face meeting with Imran Khan was crucial for the continued talks.
The ongoing talks have been overshadowed by accusations from some individuals abroad who are allegedly using the PTI to further their own agendas. Sher Afzal Marwat expressed his dissatisfaction with these foreign influences, claiming that they were damaging the party's reputation.
PTI leaders, including Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, have called for a dignified response to political accusations and for a politics that focuses on honesty rather than defamation. Raja also condemned the use of false images and mockery of individuals' characters as a means of political attack.
Meanwhile, senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser, alongside Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) Chairman Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, emphasized the importance of the ongoing negotiations. They stated that the discussions were vital for the survival and unity of Pakistan, even more so than historical agreements like the Simla Agreement. Qaiser also reiterated the PTI’s stance that civilians should not face trials in military courts, stressing the need for fair treatment of party workers.
The deadlock in the negotiations continues to hinge on the government’s refusal to meet with Imran Khan, further stalling progress. However, PTI leaders remain hopeful that the talks can move forward with the involvement of the party founder.
