Israel Strikes Gaza Amid Ceasefire Talks, Eighth Baby Dies of Cold

Amid ongoing efforts to finalize a ceasefire agreement, Israel continues its intense assault on Gaza. Overnight, Israeli forces targeted northern Gaza City in two separate attacks, killing at least six Palestinians.

Hamas claims it has approved a list of 34 captives, as proposed by Israel, to be released in the first phase of the potential deal. However, Israeli authorities have denied this claim, adding uncertainty to the negotiations.

Meanwhile, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza worsens. An eighth Palestinian baby has tragically died from hypothermia as harsh winter conditions grip the region. The limited entry of humanitarian aid, including blankets and tents, has left families struggling to survive.

Since the escalation began on October 7, 2023, Israel’s offensive has resulted in the deaths of at least 45,805 Palestinians and injuries to 109,064 others. On the other side, the Hamas-led attacks on Israel claimed 1,139 lives, with over 200 people taken captive.

The situation remains dire as the world watches for progress in ceasefire talks and relief for the beleaguered population.
