PTI Expels Sher Afzal Marwat Over Disciplinary Violations

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to expel senior party leader and Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Sher Afzal Marwat due to repeated violations of party discipline. The decision was made following direct instructions from PTI founder Imran Khan, who has directed the party leadership to terminate Marwat’s basic membership. A formal notification regarding his expulsion is expected to be issued soon. Additionally, the party is set to demand Marwat’s resignation from his National Assembly seat.

Reasons Behind the Expulsion

Sources within PTI reveal that concerns were raised about Sher Afzal Marwat’s conduct during a PTI rally in Swabi on February 8, 2025. Senior party leaders complained that Marwat engaged in disruptive activities, including raising slogans against other party members and disregarding internal directives.

Reports indicate that Marwat was not provided a designated seat on the stage, nor was he allowed to deliver a speech. Feeling sidelined, Marwat publicly expressed his dissatisfaction, stating that he attended the rally only for Imran Khan but was disrespected. He further said that if the leadership had an issue with his presence, they should have informed him beforehand.

The situation escalated when Marwat and Salman Akram Raja had a heated verbal exchange on stage. Marwat even led slogans against Salman Akram Raja while he was delivering his speech. Following this incident, PTI leaders lodged complaints with Imran Khan, leading to the decision to expel Marwat.

PTI’s Stand on Internal Discipline

The party leadership had previously issued multiple show-cause notices to Sher Afzal Marwat, warning him about his controversial statements and actions that went against PTI’s policies. However, despite repeated warnings, he continued to defy party rules, forcing PTI to take strict action.

By expelling Sher Afzal Marwat, PTI aims to reinforce party discipline and send a strong message that no member, regardless of their seniority, is above the rules. The leadership has emphasized that maintaining unity and discipline within the party is crucial, especially in the current political climate.

What’s Next for Sher Afzal Marwat?

With his expulsion, Sher Afzal Marwat now faces an uncertain political future. It remains to be seen whether he will challenge PTI’s decision, form a new political alliance, or continue his political career independently. However, his removal marks a significant moment in PTI’s ongoing efforts to restructure and consolidate party leadership.
