Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced a 15-member squad for their upcoming two-match Test series against Pakistan, scheduled from January 17 to 29, 2025, at the Multan Cricket Stadium. This series marks a significant occasion, as the West Indies will be playing a Test series in Pakistan for the first time in 18 years.
The squad features the return of left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie, who missed the recent series against Bangladesh. Additionally, left-handed batter Amir Jangoo has earned his maiden Test call-up following his remarkable century on ODI debut against Bangladesh earlier this month.
Both matches of the series will take place in Multan, as Karachi was unable to host the opener due to renovations at the National Stadium in preparation for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.
West Indies head coach Andre Coley expressed optimism about the upcoming series, describing it as an opportunity for the team to build on their progress. He highlighted the inclusion of Motie to strengthen the spin attack and praised Jangoo’s consistent performances in regional cricket and his aptitude against spin bowling.
The West Indies will commence their tour with a two-day practice match against Pakistan Shaheens on January 10 and 11 in Rawalpindi. The team is set to arrive in Islamabad on January 6 and will head to Multan after the warm-up game.
The announced squad includes Kraigg Brathwaite as captain, with Joshua Da Silva serving as vice-captain. The other members are Alick Athanaze, Keacy Carty, Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, Tevin Imlach, Amir Jangoo, Mikyle Louis, Gudakesh Motie, Anderson Phillip, Kemar Roach, Kevin Sinclair, Jayden Seales, and Jomel Warrican.
The tour itinerary begins with the warm-up match on January 10-11 in Rawalpindi, followed by the first Test from January 17-21 and the second Test from January 25-29, both at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
